Lower Body Lift / Thigh Lift
Candidates for body lifts typically suffer from loose (inelastic), unsightly skin on many or most areas of the body as a result of age; childbearing or significant weight loss due to diet, exercise or bariatric surgery. The circumferential body lifts, also called "belt lipectomy", or "torsoplasty" tighten and tone the abdomen, back, buttocks, hips and thighs.
The medial thigh lift is performed with incisions in the groin crease, or occasionally a vertical incision where skin is undermined, excess fat is liposuctioned and skin redraped for a more toned look.
The lower body lift addresses the buttocks, lower abdomen and outer thighs.
During the procedure, the circumferential incision is made, skin is released from underlying tissue, muscles are tightened (abdomen) and the skin redraped. Liposuction is employed for further contouring. The navel is often repositioned. Small drainage tubes are inserted and maintained in place for a few days. Lower body lifts are performed in the hospital and hospital stay for 2 to 3 days may be necessary. Medial thigh lift is performed as ambulatory cases.
After surgery, patients are encouraged to walk as soon as they are able. A compression garment is worn for a minimum of 2 weeks continuously and another 2 to 3 weeks at nights.
Recovery form a lower body lift may take about 3 weeks, where from a thigh lift is much quicker.
Your surgeries can be staged based on your medical needs and downtime.
Post Bariatric Reconstruction
Bariatric surgery can be highly successful in helping morbidly obese patients lose weight. After a gastric bypass or gastric banding procedure, patients are often able to enjoy significant weight loss but also greater mobility, relief of symptoms and a lower risk of weight-related disease - not to mention a boost in self-confidence. One unfortunate result is that the stretched and inelastic skin hangs loose over the slimmer body.
Post-bariatric plastic surgery combines reconstructive and cosmetic techniques to tighten, lift and contour sagging areas in abdomen, breasts, arms, buttocks, and thighs for a more attractive and youthful appearance. Procedures include:
In arms, thighs and buttocks, fat stores beneath the skin are depleted leaving loose, inelastic skin hanging. The excess skin is removed; liposuction is often used for further contouring. In abdomen, besides, loosed skin, one also has loose abdominal wall muscles. The hanging skin may also result in skin irritation, chaffing, even infections. Besides removing excess skin and fat, abdominal muscles are also tightened and the navel repositioned (Abdominoplasty). The involutes breasts, pose a very different problem. Besides loose skin, there is often significant breast tissue (volume) loss. Performing a mastopexy (breast lift) can restore the shape, at times necessitating breast implants for improved volume. Face and necklift address the wrinkling, jowling and excess skin that results from massive weight loss.
